Suitable for pupils between 16 and 19 years old.
The DP has a two-years curriculum that is internationally recognised. It encourages pupils to conduct academic research proactively by combining what they have learnt at school.
It is made up of six subject groups and three core elements. Standard level subjects take 150 hours to complete, while high level subjects take 240 hours.
The six subject groups are:
- Group1: Language Acquistion
- Group2: Studies in Language and Literature
- Group3: Individuals and Societies
- Group4: Sciences
- Group5: Mathematics
- Group6: Arts
The three core elements are:
- Theory Of Knowledge,TOK
- Extended Essaay,EE
- Creativity, Activity and Service, CAS
Pupils will need to select one subject from each of the subject groups, including three Higher and three Standard Level subjects. Pupils will also have to complete a project for each group, as well as the 4000-word undergraduate-thesis-equivalent Extended Essay, TOK Presentation, and Creativity, Activity and Service.
Pupils are graded by internal assessments and external assessments, with the latter being held every May and November. Each subject group has a maximum score of 7, and each core element a maximum score of 3, adding up to 45 scores in total.
