GCSE® Maths has a Foundation tier (grades 1-5/grade C) and a Higher tier (grades 4-9/C or above). Higher tier is more difficult than the Foundation tier.
There are six main topics in GCSE® Maths:
Number / Algebra / Ratio, proportion and rates of change / Geometry and measure / Probability / Statistics
The exam is divided into three papers. Usage of calculator is permitted for two of the three papers.
Each paper has a time limit of one and a half hours, and a maximum score of 30.
GCSE® English does not have different tiers. It is composed of English Language and English Literature.
1.English Language: reading, writing, speaking, and listening
2.English Literature: comprehension and knowledge of poems and proses
Pupils will read as much literature as much and as in-depth as possible, ranging from proses, novellas and novels to poems from across different time periods.
The exam is divided into two papers.
Each paper has a time limit of 1 hour and 45 minutes, and a maximum score of 80.
GCSE® SCIENCE has three subjects, namely Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. It offers three different depths:
Core: The basic curriculum. Offers GCSE® Core Science.
Double: Awards GCSE® Core Science and GCSE® Additional Science, More in-depth and difficult.
Triple: Awards GCSE® Biology, GCSE® Chemistry, and GCSE® Physics. Most in-depth and difficult.

GCSE®Biology:
Cell structure / Organisation / Infection and response / BioenergeticsInheritance, variation and evolution / Ecology
GCSE®Chemistry:
Atomic structure and the periodic table / Bonding, structure and the properties of matter / Chemical analysis / Quantitative, organic and atmospheric chemistry Chemical reactions & rates of chemical change / Good lab practice
GCSE®Physics:
Energy and electricity / The particle model of matter / Atomic structure>Forces and waves / Space and light / Magnetism and electromagnetism
GCSE® Science Double Award or Triple Award is recommended for application of veterinary medicine, medicine, dentistry, or engineering.
The exam is divided into six papers. Each subject has two papers.
Questions include multiple choice questions, structured questions, short answer questions, and extended response questions.
Double Science papers are less in content than Triple Science papers.
Similar to liberal education of National Taiwan University
Tests are carried out by the end of Year 11. Five or more subjects of at least grade C are required for A-level applications. It is recommended that you check the required subjects if you plan to apply for a certain A-level field of study. Some fields of study do not require prior GCSE® qualifications, such as Economics, Psychology, Law, and Business.
